A Brave New World

Okay, I have never been a fan of pictures of myself but it's time to be brave. Wait for it..... wait for it....... I'm going to post the first ever picture of myself on the blog. This is me now 63 lbs thinner. I like myself, I really do, I just don't like to look at pictures of myself because I have the tendency to micro-analyze every imperfection I can find. (and I can usually find quite a few). Isn't that silly that in person, I'm great with who I am, but photographically it's a different story!

Well, no more! I declare boldly and bravely that this is me! This is me in all my photographic beauty! I henceforth will no more cower behind others as pictures are taken. So let it be written, so let it be done!

Sunshine, Swings, and Spring!

This is my absolute favorite time of the year! The weather is absolutely beautiful! The trees are all in bloom, the flowers are brilliant, and the smell of orange blossoms is carried on the breeze! I think this is what Heaven will be like. I'm sure it will smell like orange blossoms! Ü

A dear friend of mine gave us a very nice swing set. My husband and a friend moved this massive behemoth into our backyard and the kids are absolutely loving it! I even went out and did a little swinging myself! Life is grand when you have a swing and the smell of orange blossoms in the air.

I've discovered that I'm not the only one that loves the smell of the blossoms. This last week we had a massive swarm of bees move into one of our trees. No bee keepers wanted them, (they were africanized) and the bee removal specialists wants hundreds of dollars to dispose of the swarm. Thankfully, a wonderful neighbor knew how to dispatch them! Now our yard is safe again for man and beast!

Do the Prophet Dance

So, yesterday I substituted in Primary for singing. The children needed to review the song, "Follow the Prophet". I decided to teach them the "Follow the Prophet Dance". It mainly consisted of rolling arms, and a few disco moves. I'm happy to report that lightning didn't strike me, and we had a wonderful time (and in the process the kids actually learned the song really quickly)!

So here's the part that made my day... a sweet little girl said the closing prayer which consisted of two things: "Please help us to get home safe" and "Thank you for Sister Nielson". Wow! My whole day was brighter! Good thing I was wearing my happy dress!

Oh, what a beautiful day!

I love sunshine! I love blue skies! I love spring! Today is an incredibly beautiful day here in sunny Arizona. This is why I live here, we have amazing weather most of the year. It's just really nasty in the summer. I've been out doing some yard work today and that always makes me happy. Things are weeded, watered, pruned and planted! We planted two new fruit trees this winter, and every day I check to see if they are showing signs of life. No little blossoms yet, but I have hope! Maybe that's why I love spring.... it's such a symbol of hope!
