Saving Mr. Banks

Once again, I'm wowed! (Is that a word?  It is now!) Wowed, wowed, wowed!

My husband and I had the opportunity to see Saving Mr. Banks.

What is Saving Mr. Banks?  Here's the synopsis:

"When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ “Mary Poppins,” he made them a promise—one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation.

For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn’t budge. He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp.

It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history."

Walking in, I had no expectations... I didn't know which way this movie would go. I was pretty sure I would like it, I'm a fan of Disney, but not sure that I'd love it.  Well, I loved it from the first.  It was poignant, it was touching, it was funny, I laughed, I cried!  Really!  I had to sit in the dark for a minute after the movie and compose myself. Ü

Tom Hanks was amazing as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson should win an Oscar for portraying P.L. Travers.  Her delivery of those withering lines was amazing.  I loved the childhood memories juxtaposed into the current story.  I thoroughly enjoyed the journey as we all found out why Mary Poppins was so important to her and what the story is really about.  You know it's a great movie when the audience applauds after.  We did!

Go see this amazing movie!  I will see it again!  It's one of my new favorites!

Oh yeah, and for all you manly men, my husband thoroughly enjoyed it too!

Frozen - Full of Warmth!

Oh, do I have a wonderful movie to share with you!  It's Disney's Frozen!  Loved it!  Now, most of you know, I'm an Arizona gal thru and thru, so anything to do with snow or ice leaves me cold (you know I had to go there!)  Frozen opens up with some very cool special effects with snowflakes (cool.... get it?  Yep, went there again!)

Okay, okay enough puns.... Let me tell you about the movie!

"Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” presents “Frozen,” a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf (voice of Josh Gad), Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom."

Frozen pulled me right into the story from the first moment!  I loved the animation, loved the interaction between the two sisters, and the 3D was spectacular.  I actually turned my face away so I wouldn't get hit with the icy blast, before I realized it was just a movie!  My daughter thought that was hilarious!

I loved the music, especially the song Elsa (Idina Menzel) sings..... wow!  My daughter actually walked out of the theater and bought the soundtrack on the way home!  She informed me this is her favorite movie now (she's 16).  I asked her why.  She was impressed with how Anna discovered true love (not gonna tell you, don't want to spoil it), she loved Kristoff, and she loved how Anna jumped right in to find a solution to a difficult problem (again... not gonna tell you.  You'll have to see the movie!)

We will definitely be seeing this again, and bringing the rest of the family.  Everyone will enjoy it!  My favorite is  cute little Olaf the Snowman.  Maybe snow isn't so bad...

Go see frozen, you'll leave feeling all warm and fuzzy, with a big smile on your face!

Thor - Eye Candy Galore!

Wowza!  I saw Thor: The Dark World several days ago, and I'm still all a-twitter!  The movie was great, loved the plot, loved the action, loved the special effects, loved the plot twists!  But oh, the handsomeness factor was off the charts!

Here... let me share:

For you Thor Fans

And we can't forget Loki

Great Father - Son Shot

Mmmmm...

So, before I get carried away, this really is a great movie!

"Marvel’s "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.  In the aftermath of Marvel’s "Thor" and "Marvel’s The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. To defeat an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor sets upon his most dangerous and personal journey yet, forced into an alliance with the treacherous Loki to save not only his people and those he loves…but our universe itself."

See!  Is that a great plot or what!  The action literally kept me on the edge of my seat!  There are so many things I want to tell you, but I don't want to spoil the fun for you.  Lots of great battles, terrific action sequences, but poor London, England doesn't fair so well.   There's a great scene between Thor and Loki where they truly act like bickering brothers, very funny!  Malekith (the villain) is a great bad guy!  He's pretty menacing, then he gets the Aether, turns all gray, and then he is truly and completely creepy!  Nightmare creepy....

Go see Thor: the Dark World!  I highly recommend it! Don't forget to stay through the credits... there are TWO surprises for you!

Don't Count Me Out!

My amazing son Matthew has Sensory Processing Disorder. He is so smart, but struggles in school because he learns differently.  Consequently, he can really struggle with feelings of self-worth... "I'm dumb, mom."  "I can't do this."  It breaks my heart and we work constantly to shore up his self-esteem.

We've been incredibly blessed to have teacher's in our son's life that understand Matthew and help him achieve and learn.  But it's still a constant struggle to navigate through the system and to try and figure out what is best for Matthew.

Now, it's a little easier with a wonderful book called Don't Count Me Out

Don't Count Me Out! is a book for parents by Barbara Dianis, which helps them get their children (more specifically children with ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, and other special needs) organized for the school year with the right tools for academic success.

I've been doing this awhile (my son is 14) and have tried to find out everything I can to help him.  I considered myself fairly well-read on how to help my son.  I was pleasantly surprised how much I learned from this book!  Some of my favorite (and very under-lined) chapters were "Why Do Some Students Find Their Intelligence Overlooked?", and "Which Battles Should I Fight? When Meltdowns Occur Too Often".  Both those had such great helps for me.

Then there is a whole other book within this book about how to help your child through each grade.  It talks about social and educational issues for each age group and gives some solutions to things your student may be struggling with.  I loved the part where it started talking about college, something I'd never even considered for my son, but thanks to Don't Count Me Out! I now know that there are programs and universities out there that will help my son succeed in college.  A whole new world opened up for both of us!

I've loved this book and seem to be all the time telling someone about something I've read.  This book is now on the top shelf of my must have books!

I encourage you to check it out.  Even if you don't have a child with special needs, there are still some wonderful tips and strategies to help your child succeed!

THINaddictives- Yummm!

I admit, it I have a monstrous sweet tooth!  I can hardly contain it at times!  Doesn't bode well for any type of healthy eating I try to do.... until now!

Nonni's THINaddictives... wow!  Love these cookies!  Let me tell you about them...

They are twice-baked almond thins from a family recipe passed on from generation to generation.  They are packed in packages of 3 cookies each, which makes it perfect for me to toss in my purse for a great snack anytime! I always have a couple packs with me.  Though my kids now know they are in there, so half the time when I go to get one, they are gone!

Nonni's THINaddictives are low-fat (0 grams of trans fat) and made from real ingredients like delicious raisins, cranberries, almonds.... yum!  A big plus for me is each package is only between 12 and 14 carbs!

I got to try all three flavors, Cranberry Almond Thins, Cinnamon Raisin Almond Thins, and Pistachio Almond Thins.  They are all delicious, but I am seriously addicted to the Cinnamon Raisin ones!  My hubby's favorite is the Pistachio Almond Thins.  This is a good thing, so we can each have our own box!

I really love these cookies!  Go try them yourself, you'll be glad you did!

One of you lucky readers can win three boxes of Nonni's Thinaddictives!  Woot!  Just enter using the rafflecopter entry form below!  Good luck!

Seal Under Siege

If you know me, you know I'm an avid reader.  If I like the book, I'll devour it!  I just finished Seal Under Siege.  Let's just say I was voracious in my reading... finished it in two days!  (Would have been one if my kids and husband didn't demand to be fed.... geesh!)

Let me tell you about this book, Seal Under Siege by Liz Johnson:

From the book:

When Staci Hayes is rescued from a Mideast prison by navy SEAL Tristan Sawyer, she thinks the ordeal is over. But back in San Diego, a new threat arises. Staci has information that could prevent a hit on U.S. soil, and the terrorist will stop at nothing to silence her. Tristan insists on being her bodyguard, but his constant presence makes her long for things beyond her reach. Protecting Staci is the second chance Tristan needs to put the past behind him. Yet with a spy on the naval base, anyone could be a threat. Can he offer her safety…and love?

Now, I'm not a typical fan of romance novels, but this is so much more!  It is filled with suspense!  I loved trying to figure out who the bad guy is (this one took me awhile Ü ).  Plus, it's clean!  How wonderful is that!

The very first page sucked me right in!  It starts with the rescue mission and it was so descriptive and well-written that I actually felt like I was there.  I enjoyed getting to know the characters, especially Staci.  She survives a harrowing ordeal just to have more terrifying experiences.  Though, if I had to go through what she did I'd feel a lot better having  Navy SEAL L.T. (Tristan) by my side.

It's a great read and hard to put down!  Way to go author Liz Johnson!  You've written another great book!

So, here's some exciting news for you amazing readers!  One of you lucky folks can win your own copy of Seal Under Siege!  Cool, huh!  Just enter using the rafflecopter form below!  Good luck!

Big Props to Planes!

It is so refreshing to see life through the eyes of a child!  I had such an opportunity when I took my son to see the new Disney movie Planes.

Disney’s Planes” is about  Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.

To say he was excited is an understatement. I had to smile as all the way there he speculated on what kinds of planes would be in the movie, in fact it was a running commentary the whole way there!

He was fairly dancing by the time we walked into the theater, and he actually did a fist pump and an "Oh Yeah!" when they handed him 3D glasses!

He was mesmerized through the entire movie!  The race scenes had him bouncing in his seat and pretending to radio instructions to all the planes.  I had so much fun watching this movie with my son!  Then all the way home we had to relive the whole movie with commentary on the choices, both good and bad that the planes made.

What did I think of Planes?  I thought it was a cute movie.  I enjoyed the "under-dog does good" story line.  I loved the animation and the 3D!  In fact, the loop-de-loops the planes did, well... they made me motion sick!  I had fun figuring out who did the voices for the characters... loved Brad Garret as Chug!

Is it my favorite Disney movie?  No.  Is it my son's favorite movie?  Oh, yes!  Is it a fun movie to take your kids to and have some fun yourself?  Absolutely!

So Green! So Good!

The older I get the greener I get.  I've always loved this beautiful earth and have tried to take care of it, but there was  more I could have done.  Now that I have amazing children, I want them to be able to experience the same beauty that I've loved.  This has made me much more cognizant of what part I can play.

Let me introduce you to TerraCycle, a company that collects difficult-to-recycle packaging and products and repurposes the material into affordable, innovative products.  These products are all-natural, affordable, recycled, and made here in the USA.  I love that!

So, let me tell you about some of their products that I have tried:

First, I got a very cool watering can!  It works great, and looks totally cool!  So cool, in fact, that my kids actually discuss (fight over) who gets to do the watering!  I got a great planter that is now on my front porch with cute little flowers in it.  It has held up very well to our brutal summer heat and looks great!  The best part for me is it looks like terra cotta, but it's plastic so my son can't break it!  I also am now the proud owner of a Terra Stone Plant caddy!  This baby can hold up to 200 lbs!  When I first got it, my son said, "Wow!  Cool square skateboard!"  No son, sorry... it's all mine!  All of these great products retail for under $16.99.

Speaking of brutal summer heat... well it bakes our ground to a concrete-like consistency.  It's hard to get anything to grow and thrive during the summer (unless you're into growing a crop of tumbleweeds, those do great!)  I have some hearts and flowers in my front planter that are not feeling so well in this heat.  Well, I've been applying TerraCycle's Granular Plant Food and they are looking so much better.  I think the secret is the worm poop that it contains. (I never thought I'd blog about worm poop!)  The poor little wormies that live here in Arizona don't last too long so I think there's not a lot of worm poop in our soil.  Now I can add worm poop into my soil and feed my plants! (Look, I got to say worm poop four times, oops, now five!)  The other thing I love is that TerraCycle Plant Food only needs to be applied every 8 - 10 weeks!

So, now I feel like not only are these great products working for me, but by using them I'm giving a little bit back.  Thanks so much TerraCycle!

She's One of the Family

We have been so lucky to have two wonderful dogs be a part of our family for the past 13 years!  Sadly, we just lost one of our dogs to old age.  Lady and Rica were sisters that we rescued.  Now that Lady is gone we try to keep Rica happy as she is definitely missing her sister.

We've always given our dogs treats like Rawhide Bones, Milkbones, etc.  Rica is getting old and her taste is getting a bit more... ah, refined (finicky) so sometimes it's hard to find a treat she likes.  Well, we struck gold when we discovered Jerky Treats from Kingdom Pets.  Rica loves them!

We've given her their Chicken Jerky and the Jerky Twists.  She goes nuts for them!  As soon as she is done with one, she is giving us the "More Jerky Please" look.  I like that they are made with no fillers or by-products, only wholesome natural ingredients.  I love that we found a great treat for our dog!

Speaking of dogs, our teenage daughter has been begging for a puppy to raise and train.  So we've finally consented (given in) and we are looking for a puppy for our daughter.  We are also starting to gather all the supplies that go with having a new puppy in the house.  I remember having puppies as a child and oh, do they do a lot of piddling!  So, our first product to get has been the Absorbz Everyday Convenience Pads.  Absorbz has wetlock technology which means it has a layer that will hold up to 100 times it's weight in liquid, and a layer that will protect my floors and carpets from... well, you know what from!  Absorbz pads would also be great under water bowls or in Pet Carriers.  I love that it will neutralize odors and provides a no-drip disposal (blegh!)

Our dogs have always been an important part of our family and I'm so glad we found some great products for them!

Mustard Day 2013

Did you know that Saturday, August 3rd is Mustard Day?  Did you even know there was a Mustard Day?  Me neither....

Well all you fans of Mustard or Trivia, let me elucidate:

French's Classic Yellow Mustard was first introduced in 1904 at the St. Louis World's Fair.  Since then it's become the most popular condiment for hotdogs.  Plus, there are new flavors too, like Spicy Brown (one of my favorites) Dijon, Horseradish, Honey, and Honey Dijon.  Okay, I'm starting to get hungry!

Another interesting tidbit, there is a National Mustard Museum.  It's in Middleton, Wisconsin. You can celebrate National Mustard Day there on August 3rd!  They have a whole day of fun planned for this event, including opening ceremonies with Dr. Mustard, French's Mustard Man, and yes, the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile!  They'll be live music and free hot dogs, mustard games, and magic.

Can't make it to Middleton Wisconsin for National Mustard Day?  Well, you can celebrate by making some delicious food of your own, using mustard or course!

Here's a great recipe for Super Juicy Chicken:

3lbs        fryer chicken, cut into 8 pcs
½  cup    FRENCH’S® Classic Yellow® Mustard
3 Tsp      McCormick® Grill Mates® Montreal Spice

1. PREHEAT grill to medium heat

2. PLACE chicken pieces on large plate and coat both sides with FRENCH’S® Classic Yellow® Mustard. Sprinkle Montreal Spice on.

3. GRILL over medium heat for 20 minutes till juices run clear or 160F internal.

Makes      4-6 servings

Mmmm....

So don't forget Saturday, August 3rd is National Mustard Day.  Go celebrate with some delicious French's Mustard!  Afterall, it's America's #1 mustard brand!

Keeper of Reign

I'm one of THOSE parents.... I read what my children are reading.  Not only to make sure the content is appropriate, but also to keep up on the latest books so I can have a decent discussion with my kids when they start referencing characters.  I've noticed that on some of the series I get sucked right in along with my kids, and can't wait for the next installment!

Well, it happened again!  Keeper of Reign grabbed me from the first page and didn't let up until the end!  My kids kept circling round and wanting to know what I was reading that was so good (that, or they were hungry because I was reading and not fixing dinner!)

So, let me tell you about Keeper of Reign.  Emma Right is a Christian author, and Keeper of Reign is a children/young adult fantasy book.

From the author:

Set in the fantastical kingdom of Reign, Right’s vivid chronicle follows a people called the Elfies, who have been cursed to remain an inch in size until they can find a way to reverse their misfortune. Leading them in a quest to return to their former greatness is teenager Jules Blaze and his four siblings, who journey into the land of their enemy, Gehzurolle, in order to find a way to undo the curse. Throughout their misadventures these five siblings and their friends learn important messages about the power of family, friendship and how sometimes it is the hardest things that enable you to grow.

Besides the great story that kept me page-turning with excitement, I loved the interaction of the Blaze children.  I grew up in a large family and recognized a lot from my own childhood.  The characters are well-developed and I felt like I knew them well, and they became friends as I read. I even found myself mourning with them. I'm not giving any plot twists away, but there are some doozies in there!  I wasn't quite sure who to trust.

I really enjoyed Keeper of Reign, but I have to admit I groaned out loud at the end.  Not because it wasn't a great ending, it was, but now I have to wait impatiently for  Book Two to come out!

Hi Ho Silver, Away!

I have had a crush on the Lone Ranger ever since I was a little girl!  Yes, I even had my own Lone Ranger mask.  So, to say I've been excited to see the new movie, The Lone Ranger.... well, that's an understatement.  I've been bouncing up and down in anticipation!

I was smart and brought my husband to the premier so I wouldn't fall into a Armie Hammer/Johnny Depp drool-infused stupor.  So let's just put it out there, Armie Hammer is one handsome guy and looks really great in his white hat and mask, and I am a fan of Johnny Depp and he didn't disappoint me in this movie.

So, did I like the Lone Ranger movie?  Overall, a resounding yes!  I loved the camaraderie between The Lone Ranger and Tonto.  I liked that Tonto was so much more than a side-kick, he was the smart one in this film.  I really loved the action sequences!  The final big showdown had me bouncing up and down in my seat loving the action while I hummed along to the William Tell Overture!

What didn't I like?  I thought the cannibalistic part of the villain was a bit too much.  Very gross!  He was a scary guy without that, I don't know why that part was added.  I also thought it was a little long.  It started great and ended great, but dragged a bit in the middle.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Lone Ranger movie!  It kept me interested and in parts I was swept up in the moment.  And yes, I've been humming the William Tell Overture a lot lately!  And yes... my kids may be getting a little tired of me saying, "Hi Ho Silver, Away!" every time I start car.  Personally, I think I'm hilarious!

Despicable Me 2 - Twice the Fun!

I loved, loved, loved Despicable Me!  I want my own minion army.... but that's a whole other post. Ü

So, when I had the amazing opportunity to see Despicable Me 2, it was with great excitement and a little trepidation.  Excitement because I was very much looking forward to more minions, and trepidation because not all sequels are as good as the first.

Well, in my humble opinion, Despicable Me 2 is better than the first.  I think I laughed the whole time... I mean belly-jiggling, tears streaming guffaws!  It is really funny!

All my favorite characters were back in full force, plus some new ones that I love!  Gru the (Former?) super villain is hilarious as ever and actually has a partner this time.  I loved the sub-plot of Gru struggling with his oldest daughter's first crush (yes, the freeze gun comes into play!  I'd like one of those myself, what a weapon against raging teenage hormones!)

I felt like the minions stole the show in Despicable Me 2.  The have a much more integral part of the plot.  Their laugh is contagious and I still giggle every time someone says Mr. Ramsbottom.

I loved the whole movie but the ending scene had me crying I was laughing so hard!  The younger set liked it but those of us who are a bit older found it hilarious!  I won't spoil it for you, but I'm sure you'll love it too!

I'm definitely going to see it again, and own it when it comes out on Gru-Ray!

Bejeweled Frenzy!

Go on, admit it... you love Bejeweled Blitz!  I most certainly do! So, when I was offered the opportunity to review a new game called Bejeweled Frenzy... well, you know I was all over that!

So, Bejeweled Frenzy from Hasbro is a card game where the players race to match gems and build the largest stack of cards.  There are also Boost Gems (who doesn't love sparkly things!).  Speaking of sparkly, the cards are a little sparkly too!

The basic premise of the game is a lot like Bejeweled.  Players take turns picking a card and try to make a match of three gems.  If you're successful you can collapse your stack and get a gem.  Gems and cards are worth different points.  The person with the most points at the end of the game wins!  It's not complicated at all, easy to catch on and start playing immediately.

The game is rated at ages 8+, for 2-4 players.  The approximate retail price is $14.99

We had a great time playing this as a family.  My son didn't even mind that he was playing with sparkly cards and gems!  We recently went on a trip and spent a lot of time playing Bejeweled Frenzy!  We really enjoy it! Though, I will add that it is more fun with four players, than with just two. We're bringing it to our family reunion and I think it will be a hit there.

So, now I have two different ways to be addicted to Bejeweled!  I think my kids are actually getting a little tired of me always asking them to play Bejeweled Frenzy with them!  Nah..... they love it too!

Disclosure:  I was offered the game for the purpose of a review.  The opinions are all my own and free of charge!

Family - In All It's Forms

As most of you know, my children are adopted.  When they were very little a friend told me, "I know you think you love your children, but you can't really know what love is because you didn't give birth to them."  At first I was pretty miffed, but then I came to realize, she just doesn't understand love.

I loved my children from the moment they were placed in my arms with a fierceness that was almost over-whelming.  I would do anything for them, making sure my arms and our home will always be a safe haven from life's storms.

That's the thing about love, and families.  It has nothing to do with DNA or genetics.... it's about who you share your heart with, who you serve with unconditional acceptance.  I love my children and my husband more than life itself, not because we share genes, but because we choose to go through life together, through all the ups and downs, the storms and the rainbows.  I am their safe haven, and they are mine.

I had the opportunity to view a trailer for the upcoming movie, Delivery Man.  In the movie, Vince Vaughn plays an affable underachiever looking for his purpose in life, when he finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Now he must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them want to meet their biological father.

When I read the description about the film, I wasn't quite sure if I wanted to see it.  Then I watched the trailer.  I loved it!  I watched him learn what being a father is about, in a very humorous way!  It's about family, however unconventional it may be.  I for one, look forward to seeing this film!  I love funny, heart-warming films and this looks right up my alley!

Check out the trailer and see what you think:

Delivery Man comes out in theaters November 22nd.  Maybe I'll see you there!

Cascade Platinum!

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

I do not like to do dishes, the only reason I do it is I like dirty dishes even less!  I want to get it done as quickly as possible with the least amount of work and hassle.  Now, mix in the fact that I have a teenage boy that eats constantly (and I really mean constantly) yet leaves his dirty dishes all over the place and I really, really don't like doing dishes!  I own a dishwasher but it makes me crazy to have  to pre-wash dishes before I put them in the dishwasher.  Isn't that what a dishwasher is for.... to wash dishes?

I had the opportunity to try a new product from Cascade calling Cascade Platinum Pacs.  I'm a fan of Cascade, I personally think it works the best.  Well, now they've improved it.  Cascade Platinum eliminates the need to pre-wash dishes, scrubs away 24 hour stuck on food, and really shines your dishware.  If that's not enough, Cascade Platinum also prevents hard water buildup in your dishwasher so your dishwasher can sparkle along with your dishes!

So, does it work?  Why, yes it does!  First, I love that they are little pacs that I can just toss in my dishwasher soap dispenser, no muss, no fuss!  I've used it several times and my dishes come out looking cleaner!  My glasses don't look spotty!  I even gave it the ultimate test... dirty dishes I found in my son's room that had been there for who knows how long.  Yuck!  Cascade Platinum actually got all that nasty stuck on mystery food!  I even noticed that my dishwasher is looking cleaner!  Woot!  I'm a fan!!  Big thumbs up from me!  Now my dishes can act as a showcase for the great food I cook!

Speaking of food presentation, Cascade has teamed up with Gail Simmons, who is a Top Chef judge and editor of Food + Wine magazine to discuss why presentation is just as important as preparation!  You can check out some great info from Gail Simmons on the Cascade Facebook page!

Now for even more fun, Cascade is have a "My Platinum" contest on Instagram with great prizes!  Each week two winners will each win a new KitchenAid dishwasher and a 6 month supply of Cascade!  There is also a grand prize of a Platinum Kitchen Makeover!  Wow!

You can post photos on Instagram following each week's theme!  Check out how to enter at www.tinyurl.com/PlatBlog.  Make sure you follow the rules and include the right hashtags!  Good luck!

Totino's - So Tasty!

I'm a fan of Totino's, I admit it freely!  Especially those amazing Pizza Rolls..... yum!  So, when I found out that Totino's came out with a new product... Totino's Pizzeria Hot Snacks, well I was all over that!

Let me tell you about them!

Totino's has a new line of Pizza Snack called their Pizzeria line.  They have Cheesy Garlic Rolls, Chicken Parmesan Rolls, and Meatball Marinara Rolls. Your mouth is watering now, isn't it!

They still have the Pizza roll deliciousness, but now in more flavors.  We tried the Cheesy Garlic and the Chicken Parmesan.  We all liked the Cheesy Garlic, but the Chicken Parmesan was our favorite!!  My only complaint would be that the flavor wasn't too strong.  I love strong flavors, and while this tasted like Chicken Parmesan, I would have liked it a bit stronger.

We couldn't find the Meatball Marinara but I'd really like to try those!  I enjoy that there are new options of Pizza Rolls.  Want to know more?  Check them out on Facebook!  You can get a 50 cents off coupon while supplies last!

Now, you know me and giveaways!  Well, one of you lucky readers get to win this fun Totino's Prize Pack!

It includes 3 VIP Coupons so you can try each flavor, and a 4-tile Wood Handle Tray with a Salt and Pepper Shaker Kit.  So cute!

It's All About the Glitter!

Oh, I love the bling!  I love sparklies!  In fact, the sparklier, the better! (is that a word?!)

So when Purex came out with an amazing new product that's all about the sparkle... well, I'm all over that!

Let me introduce you to Purex Glitter!  It's an amazing detergent that not only cleans your clothes but will embed glitter directly onto your clothes!  Your clothes will come out of the washing machine sparkling, full of glitz and glam!

The glitter that isn't embedded in your clothes washes right out of your washer during the spin cycle!  So you're left with no mess, just glitter... wonderful glitter!

Check out these amazing before and after photos:

Glitter towels!  Oh yes!

It may be gloomy outside, but you are sparkling on the inside with your glitter underwear!

I'm all a-twitter about the glitter! (sorry, couldn't help myself!)  Just think what my jeans are going to look like!  I think I'll throw my sneakers in too!  I'm going to be one sparkling, blinged-out girl!

Want to learn more?  Just check out Purex at Purex Glitter!

Thanks Purex!  You've done it again!

Smells Clean and Then Some!

I'm a fan of Purex!  I love how clean my clothes get!  I love the convenience of the Detergent Packs.  It is my go-to laundry detergent.  So, just when I think they can't get any better.... surprise!  They do!

Let me tell you about Purex plus Fabric Softener with Crystal Fragrance!  It's a bit of a mouthful but it does a lot!  It cleans your clothes, softens them, and now it's loaded with Crystals Fragrance.  Ahhh....!  Now, to make it even better, it is about half the price of the leading brand.  An average family could save over $45 a year by using Purex  with Crystals!

So, does it work?  Why, yes it does!  My clothes are clean, which is saying something because they go in the washing machine so nasty!  They come out clean and smelling so wonderful!  For me, it is just the right amount of fragrance, just a hint, not overpowering.  My husband has never complained and he would if he wore clothes smelling like a flower!

Now, to add to this fun post, I get to tell you about a great sweepstakes, and then hold one of my own!  Woot!  Woot!
